Akhilesh Yadav shows the door to Kushwaha

Cracking a disciplinary whip, Samajwadi party leadership first sacked its national general secretary Ram Asrey Kushwaha from the party post and then chief minister Akhilesh Yadav stripped him of the ministerial rank portfolio.

The orders of sacking of Kushwaha were issued by SP’s national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav on the instructions of party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Kushwaha, who was Chairman, Remote Sensing Application Centre, has been given cabinet minister rank, was stripped of this post too.

Akhilesh Yadav while stripping him of ministerial post did not explain the reason of his decision but it is believed that party leadership was angry over Kushwaha’s frequent television appearances.

Sources say that Kushwaha was earlier warned of his statement on Muzaffarnagar riots and was asked to follow the party line. He was even asked not to give statements to media but he turned a deaf ear to CM’s directives.

The party has authorised only four persons to interact with the media on party affairs, namely SP’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav, state president and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, national general secretary and spokesperson Ramgopal Yadav and state spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary.

Kushwaha is the fifth party leader who has been sacked. The list includes Amar Singh, who was removed before the assembly elections last year. Then Mohan Singh was stripped of his post as national spokesperson. Shahid Siddiqui faced party’s ire for taking interview of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for his newspaper and finally Kamal Faruqui was removed from the post of national secretary over his remarks on Indian Mujahideen operative Yasin Bhatkal.
