Akhilesh govt to give Rs 400 as pension to 74 riot victims

State chief secretary Javed Usmani said that 74 families would be benefited by this scheme who have been relocated because of riots in Muzaffarnagar.
‘The victims of riots in Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur, Baghpat and Meerut would get Rs 400 per month from September last as per the rules and guidlines of the Rani Laxmi Bai Pension scheme of the state government,’ he told reporters here.
UP government had launched the Rani Lakshmi Bai Pension Scheme, mainly for women.
Around 62 people were killed in the Muzaffarnagar riots and 40,000 people were rendered homeless.
In other decisions government has decided to construct international cricket stadium and sports complex in the state capital under PPP model besides deciding to increase the seats in government it is.
The UP government has earmarked 67 acres of land for the developers while 70 acres would be developed as cricket stadium, sports complexes and hostels along with sports academy in the state capital to be built under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Usmani said that a total investment of Rs 500 crore would be required for the sports facilities and the developer would be given the rights for its management and to organise sports for 35 years.
In another major decision, the state government has decided to increase 46,200 seats in the government run ITIs in the next two years. The government has also approved a proposal to hand over Shadabadi Hospital in Lucknow to KGMU for its supervision.
Giving Shatabadi Hospital in the KGMU kitty will also enhance the facilities of the University as now it can start 100 seats for Post Graduate course while the availability of bed would rise by 25 per cent and the OT and ICU facilities would be strengthened.
The state government has also decided to have underground electricity wire lines in Azamgarh, Tirwa in Kannauj and Saifai in Etawah districts at a cost of Rs 160 crore.
The government has also decided to make seven new tehsils in the state. The new tehsils are Pailani of Banda district, Rajapur of Chitrakoot district, Ajitmal of Auriyya district, Takha of Etawah district, Raja Talab of Varanasi district Maholi of Sitapur district and Mitauli of Lakhimpur Kheri district.
BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi gets bail
Muzaffarnagar: BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi, arrested for her alleged role in recent riots here, was on Tuesday granted bail by a local court.
Additional chief cudicial magistrate Sunder Lal gave bail to Prachi on two sureties of Rs 2,000 each.
She had surrendered before the court on Monday. Police had registered a case against 40 people, including Prachi for violation of prohibitory orders and inciting communal violence by speeches in meetings at Nagala Madore area of Muzaffarnagar.
Prachi had contested the 2012 assembly polls on BJP ticket. More than 60 persons were killed in communal violence that had broken out in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in September this year.
