Akhilesh govt seeks supplementary grants worth Rs 5,861 crores

Continuing to focus on development of the Etawah, Mainpuri and Kannauj belt, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav on Monday tabled supplementary budgetary proposals to the tune of Rs 5861.29 crores.

The state govt has given priority to the agriculture, education, social welfare, sports, judiciary, medical health and Kumbh Mela in the supplementary budgetary proposals for which a major portion of the funds have been earmarked.

The state assembly is expected to approve the proposals after a brief discussion tomorrow.

The supplementary budget announced a new girls school at Saifai and state women colleges at Mainpuri and Kannauj. Rs one crore has been sanctioned for the girls school at Saifai, Rs 50 lakhs each for the women colleges and Rs 4.23 crore for setting up a school at Etawah. A new medical college would be set up at Badaun for which an allocation of Rs one crore has been made besides a para-medical institute at Kannauj. The govt has also decided to set up a heart disease and cancer hospital at Kannauj. The govt has demanded Rs 1.50 crore for the functioning of Para-Medical institute at Rural Insitute of Medical Sciences and Research at Saifai. They also sought Rs 28.45 lakhs for the renovation of the residence of the CM and other ministers.

A hefty amount of Rs 400 crores has been earmarked for farmers loan waiver scheme while Rs 150 crore has been additionally given for Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme. Rs 6 crore has been earmarked for purchase of new buses in the state.
