Akhilesh govt gears up to celebrate 125 yrs of assembly

The Uttar Pradesh government has begun preparations to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the of the state legislature which falls on 8 January. According to sources the President of India, who has been requested to attend the function as the chief guest, has given his oral consent and his detailed programme will be shortly communicated to the state government.

Revenue Minister Ambika Chaudhri headed organising committee has decided that important buildings in the state capital will remain illuminated for a week. ‘Besides, an exhibition would be held where photographs related to the state legislature would be put up for display,’ an official spokesman said.

Deliberations also took place about holding other cultural events and make the lodging and food arrangements for the guests who will come from other states besides providing due protocol and security to them.
