AI’s Delhi-San Francisco non-stop flight announced

National carrier Air India announced that it will connect Capital Delhi to Silicon Valley hub, San Francisco, with a non-stop B777-200LR flight from December 02, 2015. This will be the first non-stop flight to operate on the sector. San Francisco will become Air India’s fourth destination in the United States. Air India operates daily non-stop flights to New York (JFK), Newark (EWR) and
Chicago (ORD).
The flight will be a boon to the Indian diaspora on the US West coast. It will make travel easy and convenient for students and parents of NRIs. Business <g data-gr-id="42">travellers</g> looking for short stays and direct options will also be hugely benefitted by this connection, just like the existing three non-stop flights to JFK, <g data-gr-id="41">EWR</g> and ORD.
Passengers from seven cities, all IT hubs, in India i.e Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Pune will have seamless connections to the flight from Delhi. Likewise, the return flight from San Francisco will provide onward connections to nine cities i.e. Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Pune and Bhubaneswar. The flight to and from San Francisco will operate 3 days a week, on Wednesday, <g data-gr-id="39">Friday</g> and Sunday. The Delhi-San Francisco flight will have a convenient early morning departure and arrival. The return flight will have an early morning departure from San Francisco and arrive in Delhi in the afternoon. The flight will offer a 3-cabin configuration, with 8 seats in First Class, 35 seats in Business Class and 195 seats in Economy Class.
Effective today, Air India has announced its Discover India scheme, under which customers will have an option of buying a maximum of 5 coupons and 10 coupons on its economy class. Scheme one for 5 coupons will be for Rs. 32,500 and can be availed within <g data-gr-id="34">validity</g> of 15 days. Under the second scheme, 10 coupons for Rs 60, 000 will be valid for 30 days.
Each coupon will be inclusive of base fare of fuel charge while other charges and taxes will be applicable depending on the state of travel. All Indian National Residents outside India, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals will be eligible to avail this scheme on all types of journeys including <g data-gr-id="31">one way</g>, <g data-gr-id="32">round trip</g>, circle trip or open jaw within India. Discover India scheme tickets are available at all Air India offices in India and abroad and will be valid for <g data-gr-id="90">single</g> user only.
