After a gap of six months the Airport Express acted as a boon to the commuters heading the airport when it resumed on track son Tuesday morning at 5.30 am. It caused a lot of problems to the Airport Express line commuters in all these months when it was shut due to fault in it’s civil structure.
Where earlier it use to run at a speed of 105 km per hour will now run at a speed of 50 km per hour as per the orders of R K Kardam, Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) who carried the two day inspection of the airport express. The speed is considered to be increased gradually after it’s regular inspection by the Delhi Metro. Though the passengers could not avail check in and baggage facilities today but as an inaugural day offer the passengers today were charged a flat rate of Rs 30. A separate notification will be issued for the check in and baggage facilities. Now commuters will take 30-35 mins to reach out the Airport where earlier it just took a duration of 18 to 20 mins from Connaught place to the Terminal 3 of IGI Airport.
