Air India starts ops in Delhi-Gorakhpur sector

Taking its ‘Connecting India’ programme forward to boost connectivity to smaller cities in the country, Air India on Friday introduced a new ATR 72-600 service from New Delhi to Gorakhpur. 

The inaugural flight AI 9809 took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi with 42 passengers on board and landed at Gorakhpur airport at scheduled time. Ashwani Lohani, CMD, cut the ribbon to launch the service. A cake was cut by a Gorakhpur-bound passenger, to celebrate the occasion.

With the commencement of this service, flyers from Gorakhpur will get connections to several domestic and international destinations, through hub Delhi. 

Similarly, passengers arriving to Delhi from the Gulf and other international and domestic destinations will also be able to connect to Gorakhpur from here by this flight. Air India is the only airline to operate to Gorakhpur. 

AI 9809 will operate six days a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday which is scheduled to depart from Delhi at 12:15 hrs and arrive Gorakhpur at 14:15 hrs. On the return leg, flight AI 9810 will depart from Gorakhpur at 14:45 hrs and reach Delhi at 16:45 hrs.
