AIIMS’ resident doctors hold protest

The resident doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Tuesday evening held a protest. The group of doctors assembled at the coffee point near hostel 7. The basic demands put forward by the resident doctors were assigning of fixed duty hours, making paramedical staff responsible for collection of blood samples and having less waiting period for the possession of hostels and improvement in its conditions. Citing that medical processes like drawing of blood is the responsibility of the paramedical staff, the resident doctors in their demands stated that such processes took their time away from their academic time which has to be compromised for the time spent on patient care.

Recently, there was a huge clash between the resident doctors and the nurses at AIIMS with regards to who was responsible for collection of samples of blood of the patients.

The resident doctors also demanded that the waiting period for the hostel must be reduced and the inhospitable conditions at the hostels at Gautam Nagar must be rectified. The future doctors also complained of the long working hours and demanded of a fixed duty timings.
