Air India, at Kolkata and overall in the eastern region, has achieved a highly impressive on-time performance (OTP) in the month of October and in the first week of November on all its flights from Kolkata as well as different cities in the eastern and Northeastern states.
With passenger movement at its peak during the festive month, Air India upped its ante to offer smooth hassle-free service to passengers with flights leaving on time most of the times.
The national carrier has clocked an 8% rise (from 82% to 90%) in on-time performance (OTP) during October ’15 compared to the OTP clocked in the corresponding period in 2014. Overall in the eastern region, the on-time performance (OTP) stood at an enviable 85% compared to the 74% in 2014 same period- a rise in 11%.
This is a marked improvement and compares favourably with other carriers operating in the region.
Several days, Air India achieved a 100 % OTP on its flights from Kolkata.
Led from the front by Executive Director Eastern Region Ani Rane, key departmental heads mobilised every possible resource to ensure operations from Kolkata during the peak Puja time was not only smooth but on time, every time.
This achievement has been possible due to a combination of few factors including the engineering department that worked round the clock to monitor and ensure timely availability of aircraft.
At the airport, the commercial wing worked according to a system to ensure that passengers enjoyed a smooth and fast access to the aircraft right from the moment he/she checked in at the airport.
Air India treated its passengers to a royal Puja Bhoj offering traditional Bengali cuisine on its flights from Kolkata to the metros, Kathmandu and Port Blair during the Puja days which was much
appreciated.
