AgustaWestland scam: AAP asks BJP to explain failure in action

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi State Convenor Dilip Pandey on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding an explanation on why the Central government failed to take action against the accused of the AgustaWestland scam.

“During the election campaign, Narendra Modi himself targeted the Congress and the Gandhi family for corruption, especially Robert Vadra. However, the last two years have shown that the Narendra Modi government has totally failed to take any action against the corruption of the Gandhi family and other Congress members. The BJP government exposed its lack of seriousness to fight corruption when it removed the ban on the scam-accused helicopter firm, AgustaWestland and its present failure to arrest the accused,” said AAP leader Ashutosh. “We demand to know what are the compulsions that make Narendra Modi protect the Gandhi family and others accused in this scam?” he added.

AAP leader Ashutosh said: “We have seen Narendra Modi is ruthless in taking down the Opposition; our MLAs and officers have seen how the Police, the ACB and CBI are unleashed on us despite a complete absence of due cause only for Modi to settle political scores. Why then is this terror not unleashed on Sonia Gandhi when there is clear evidence of her involvement?”

The whole nation can now see that the BJP and the Congress are together when it comes to scams. The main accused, retired Air Chief Marshal Tyagi is a leading member of the Vivekananda International Foundation – and the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, along with other luminaries of the BJP and the RSS, is also a member. This is a BJP think tank. It is clear that the BJP will not take action against their own persons and perhaps their involvement goes deeper than this, said Ashutosh.

Ashutosh also said that the party gives the Central government a week’s time to act against the accused in the Agusta Westland scam. If the Modi government fails to act, then it will become clear to the whole nation that the BJP and Congress are both corrupt parties that have been systematically looting India together. If Narendra Modi fails to act then the Aam Aadmi Party will do a ‘gherao’ of the Prime Minister’s residence, said Ashutosh.
