Agreement to promote Russia as popular tourist destination signed

An agreement to promote Russia as a popular tourism destination in the Indian market has been signed here. "The agreement will enable the parties to effectively coordinate the activities to promote Russia as a popular destination in the Indian market," Russian Information Center (RIC) co-founder Katerina Belyakova said.

India-based Russian Information Center has signed an agreement with Russia-based Visit Russia and other organisations to develop a 'India-friendly policy' to attract more tourists from India. The other signatories of the 'India-friendly policy' agreement, signed in St Petersburg, include the Russian Union of Travel Industry, National Centre for Marketing Tourism, Union of National and International Tourist Information Organisations of Russia and St Petersburg State University of Economics.

The agreement focusses on increasing outbound tourist traffic from India to Russia and creation of comfortable conditions of stay in the country of Indian tourists, RIC partner Paresh Navani said. The pact proposes conducting marketing activities like press and information tours of Indian journalists and tourism professionals to Russia, to participate in the Indian trade fairs and road shows, he said.
