After stint in Paris jail, cheat in Delhi police net

A person from Tamil Nadu, who went to Paris on a fake French passport two years ago and had to spend 23 months in jail after being caught by the police there, was arrested today from the IGI airport, police said.

'Naina Mohamed Mohamed Anwar Ali, resident of River Bank road in Sirkali of Nagapattinam, was arrested early this morning on arrival by Air France flight (AF226) on an Emergency Certificate issued in Paris on 13 March as deportee,' they said.

During interrogation, Ali said the visit to Paris in 2009 from Chennai was made on a French Passport issued in the name of Marie Antoine Claude, which was arranged by agent Sampath Rajamani on payment of Rs four lakh, a senior police official said.

Ali was arrested by French Police for possessing a forged French passport and had to serve a jail term of about 22-23 months.

After return from France, Ali was arrested for cheating the Indian immigration by obtaining and using a forged French passport for the journey from Chennai to Paris, the official said.
