After scuffle at JNU, AISA, NSUI lodge FIRs

Two student organisations blamed each other after Saturday night’s scuffle outside the School of Languages, Jawaharlal Nehru University, where a general body meeting was in progress. The fight has resulted in a police complaint against the group’s members.

Both All India Students’ Association (AISA) and National Student Union of India (NSUI) lodged police complaints against each other and no party was leaving the opportunity to score a point. ‘There was quarrel between AISA and NSUI activists but it was all verbal. AISA is trying to divert focus of students from the main issue as it knows it will lose this time in student union elections. AISA knows students are angry with them and they are just cooking up stories. They are even campaigning about the complainant who reported the case against AISA president and joint secretary,’ said a member of Student Federation of India (SFI).

While SFI may call it a political stunt, AISA member said, ‘Our activist was physically assaulted during the meeting. We have registered a FIR also.’
