A Delhi Police team has been formed to search three missing flower pots from the residence of Satyavan Singh Garbyal, director general at Ministry of Environment and Forests, a police official told Millennium Post.
Earlier last year, senior police officers in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district faced media criticism for looking for missing buffaloes of powerful Samajwadi leader Azam Khan which were stolen from his farmhouse in Rampur.
The burglary of three flower pots took place Monday afternoon when the DG was not at his residence in Tilak Marg area in New Delhi.
Garbyal told police that when he returned home at around 9 pm, he found the window of his main entrance broken. He stepped inside and was shocked to see the broken lock of the house. Further he noticed that the three flower pots, basically indoor plants, were missing from the gallery near the bed room.
Garbyal then made a call to the police control room and informed about the incident. A crime team along with a finger print bureau was immediately rushed to the spot which collected the evidences from the crime scene. The samples have been sent to the forensic department for examination.
“A team has been constituted to nab the culprits. It is very strange that the accused have only stolen the flower pots from the house, despite other valuables including few antiques were also present in the gallery where the accused managed to enter,” the police official said.
No CCTV camera was installed in the residence so at present there is no clue about the accused, the official said.
A case under the section of burglary has been registered at Tilak Nagar police station and investigation is underway.
In June 2014, a special crime team was formed to crack the case of the ‘missing jackfruits’ that were stolen from Janta Dal United’s Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Prasad from his Tughlaq Road bungalow.
