After K’taka, J’khand to have separate agri budget

Aimimg to give a boost to the agriculture sector, the Jharkhand government has decided to present a dedicated budget for farmers in the upcoming Budget for 2016-17 fiscal. In order to finalise the Budget processing, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has consulted several stakeholders in this regard.

With this, the government will open a new chapter when it would present a separate agriculture budget before presenting the annual finance budget for the financial year 2016-17.

“Jharkhand is set to be the second state after Karnataka to present a separate budget for farmers. Our only objective is development and development. So in the coming years, the future of Jharkhand is set to be very bright,” said Raghuvar Das, while laying the foundation stone of Jharkhand Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday.

The Chief Minister also said that mineral-rich Jharkhand has enough potential to grow in sectors like horticulture but people of the state need to change their mindset and show dedication to achieve the desired results.

Reiterating the commitments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jharkhand CM said, “We are working on the principles of development agenda of the PM, who believes that development of a country or a state is not possible without overall growth of farmers. We have taken key initiatives for the development of farmers and a dedicated budget for them is one od them.”

Das, who travered the state to seek suggestions from people on the Budget, said he had observed that possibilities were abundant for growth in the sector but “we will have to possess positive thinking and dedication to ensure desirable development”.

He also said that development of the state was not possible unless the government empowers women, rural people and farmers. It was Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, who had first presented a separate agriculture state Budget for 2011-12.
