After East, South and North DMC approve funds for layout plans for unauthorised colonies

Taking a cue from the East Delhi civic body, the commissioners of South and North DMC have also approved funds to the respective institutes working with them to prepare layout plans of unauthorised colonies. 'We have released an initial amount of Rs 10 lakh to the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) for making the layout plans of four unauthorised colonies in the first stage,' said Manish Gupta, Commissioner of South DMC. 'We will recover the amount from the RWAs of the colonies,' added Gupta. The institute is charging Rs 50,000 per acre for making the lay out plans of the unauthorised colonies. In the first stage the lay out plans of Shakti Vihar, Jain Colony (Part II and III) and two more colonies would be prepared and presented before the standing committee for its approval.

'North DMC has sanctioned an initial amount of Rs 5 lakh for the Department of Architecture, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University for making layout plans of five colonies. The amount will be released on Monday and the second instalment will also be released soon,' said Shamsher Singh, the chief town planner (CTP) who heads  the department for the three civic bodies. He further added that work on five colonies, including Hardev Nagar, situated on private land in  the North DMC area will be taken up in the first phase.

But both corporations are unclear about how the amount being spent on the work will recovered, as they have already turned down the commissioner’s proposal to recover the amount from RWAs.

The East DMC has approved the layout plan of East Azad Nagar and the layout plans of five more colonies is under consideration.
