After drizzle, long tailbacks choke national Capital

However, the worst traffic snarls post-shower were witnessed at South Delhi’s Dhaula Kuan and the stretch between Ashram Chowk to DND flyway.
Between 4 pm and 6 pm, severe congestions were reported at Central Delhi’s Paharganj and Nabi Kareem areas. People who had to take the Ring Road stretch near Delhi Secretariat were also reported to have been stuck for an hour. The entire stretch between North Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi and Filmistan had turned chaotic with cars in a long tailback honking incessantly to have <g data-gr-id="37">pass</g>. The situation was no better at the stretch between Kashmere Gate and Civil Lines, said a traffic official.
The situation turned worse after 6 pm and the Delhi Traffic Police Helpline was flooded by phone calls. People either wanted to know areas affected by traffic <g data-gr-id="26">jams,</g> so that they could take alternate routes <g data-gr-id="27">accordingly,</g> or they wanted to complaint about congestions so that others could avoid the roads they had taken.
Between 6 pm and 8 pm, severe congestions were reported at the stretches between Piragarhi and Ordinance Depot, Sector 11 Rohini and Rithala, and the entire road near North Delhi’s Barafkhana, not very far from Sabzi Mandi. The traffic congestion near Kashmere Gate persisted, and by this hour, the entire route from New Delhi’s GPO to Kashmere Gate was clogged, so was the area around the Hanuman Mandir in Kashmere Gate, said the official.
Other areas which witnessed traffic snarls in these hours include West Delhi’s Moti Bagh, the stretch near SGND Khalsa College in Central Delhi’s Karol Bagh, South-west Delhi’s Narayana, including the stretch <g data-gr-id="39">upto</g> Inderpuri. After 8 pm, Dhaula Kuan was choked and a ripple effect could be witnessed on the Ring Road, where the metro construction added to the problem. In a similar situation was the stretch between Ashram Chowk and DND flyway, which leads to Noida.
