The four were produced before a court in Delhi, which sent them to 15 days’ police custody.
“The joint search operations by the Delhi Police and the Uttarakhand Police were initiated after getting inputs from central agencies. All four suspects have been arrested and investigation is on to ascertain their police record and their connection with any international terrorist organisation,” said Sanjay Gunjyal, IG, Garhwal range.
However, with the arrest of the suspected militants the police and the administration are heaving a sigh of relief, but several security forces are keeping an eagle’s eyes on the movement of every person in Haridwar and its adjoining areas.
The first shahi snan took place in Haridwar on the occasion of Makar Sakranti (January 14) but nine such baths are still left, when lakhs of devotees will gather at various ghats.
According to sources, the four suspects were holing up in Mangalore near Roorkee and inspected many areas in the state to carry out a terror strike.
