Advani softens, says govt on right track

After launching a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following BJP’s appalling performance in the Bihar elections, party stalwart LK Advani on Sunday, said the government was on the right track to bring ‘achhe din’ in the country. Speaking to reporters in Ahmedabad after casting his vote for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation election at a polling booth in Khanpur area, he said, “I believe that the whole system takes its own time. Since, the government is going in the right direction. I believe that the results will also be good.”

He was asked whether the Modi government has failed to fulfill its promise of bringing ‘acche din’ (a popular slogan of BJP during 2014 Lok Sabha elections), especially in the wake of recent price rise.
Party veterans Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha had issued a strongly-worded statement after the Bihar poll debacle, saying that the party has been “emasculated” in the last one year and was being “forced to kow-tow to a handful”.

To a query, Advani said BJP had put extra effort to win civic body polls. “I can say that consciousness of our party has increased (after the Bihar result). All efforts were made here to see that the result comes in our favour,” said the party patriarch.
