‘Advani is most honest politician’

Though the name of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani is not doing the rounds as the probable prime ministerial candidate of the party however, there seems to be no dearth of admirers within the party for the veteran BJP leader.
Speaking at a function on completion of one-year for clean Ganga campaign, BJP leader Uma Bharti lavished praises on Advani and said that he is one of the most honest politicians in the country.
Calling Advani as a father figure Bharti said ‘ I know Advani better than his daughter Pratibha , she knows him personally, but I know him politically as well as personally’.
The BJP leader added that for the last twenty year, Advani has been a guide to her in politics. Bharti has been praising the leader since her reentry in the party, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister had in fact in 2011 pitched for Advani as the prime ministerial candidate of the party and had said that he is the only leader who can displace the UPA government.
Meanwhile, L K Advani speaking at the function gave credit to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi for initiating a project to clean the polluted Ganga river for which his party has also launched a programme. ‘The protection of the Ganga is not a political issue, BJP is not raising it for this reason, Rajiv Gandhi was the first one to start the project for cleaning the Ganga,’ said Advani.
Advani said the present Congress-led government has not paid any heed to the need for cleaning
the Ganga.
‘I told this government that they should take up the issue of cleaning the Ganga but it was ignored. Now the Supreme Court has issued an elaborate order on the issue and told the amicus curiae that he can even file a contempt case against the government if he deems it necessary,’ said the BJP leader.
