Advance registration for 2.25L pilgrims for Amarnath Yatra

Over 2.25 lakh pilgrims have secured advance registration for the annual 59-day Yatra to the <g data-gr-id="19">3,880 metre</g> high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas, scheduled to commence on July 2.
A total of 2,04,508 pilgrims had secured advance registration and 22,104 had purchased helicopter tickets from Baltal and Pahalgam to Panjtarni - the two routes leading to the cave shrine housing the naturally formed ice-<g data-gr-id="24">shivlingam</g>, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) PK Tripathi said at a meeting chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra here.
Vohra, who is also chairman of the SASB, has convened the meeting to review the status of the arrangements for the Yatra. Taking stock of various arrangements for smooth conduct of the yatra, the Governor was informed that power and water have been supplied to all six Yatra Camps.
Further, rations and items of food supply are getting delivered to all Camps and Medical Camps have been established at five out of six Camps, while 8,800 ponies have been duly registered out of a total of 13,000 which are allowed to operate on both routes, an official spokesman said.
He said telephone connectivity is functional at all Camps, 2500 toilets and 245 baths have been installed.
First batch of pilgrims <g data-gr-id="17">start</g> yatra
Jammu: State Health Minister Chaudhary Lal Singh on Tuesday flagged off the first batch of 5,100 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. The pilgrims left the Lakhanpur base camp at 10 am, while many got themselves registered for the annual pilgrimage on the spot.
