Sources in police told Millennium Post on Tuesday that villagers of Manesar might attack the workers of Maruti plant as they believe the outsiders, especially coming from Bihar, were involved in the riots. Locals believe they might have to pay for the outsiders’ fault, if the plant is shifted out.
Meanwhile, after a week of the deadly riot, in which Awanish Kumar Dev, General Manager (HR) was killed, prohibitory orders were issued by the district magistrate in Gurgaon.
District Magistrate PC Meena promulgated Section 144 CrCP, banning assembly of five or more persons with immediate effect in the IMT area where the plant is located and in a two-km radius around it.
‘According to sources it is suspected that the reason behind the prohibitory order is that villagers might attack the workers. The villagers are in support of Maruti, as it provides employment to many locals. The order also prohibits carrying of weapons such as firearms, swords, knives, cycle chains and lathis. Taking out any type of procession without prior permission of the administration has also been banned.
Station house officer (SHO) of the area and police administration would be responsible for implementation of this order which would remain into force till further notice, an official spokesman said.
