Adhir gets interim bail in case of TMC worker murder

The union minister of state for railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was granted interim bail on Thursday in connection with a murder case of a Trinamool Congress worker Kamal Sheikh in 2011 in Murshidabad district in West Bengal.

In the morning, the Murshidabad-Berhampore additional district judge Prasenjit Biswas granted him the bail till 28 November. Earlier, on 27 September, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him by the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court in connection with Kamal’s murder. Kamal, an active Trinamool Congress supporter, was murdered by a group of assailants when he was on his way to home at Golbazar area in Murshidabad district in 2011.

Then a case was lodged against Chowdhury by victim’s brother Jalaluddin in the local police station blaming Adhir for masterminding the killing. However, the investigation officers could not found anything, which will substantiate his involvement in the murder case.
