Ad hoc employees in UP urban bodies sacked

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order to terminate, with immediate effect, the services of those employees who were appointed in the urban local bodies on contract basis in an irregular manner by violating all prescribed rules and regulation.
The government has also specified that these employees should not be paid salary from the local body fund from next month.
The government order (GO) issued by the Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Praveer Kumar to all the district magistrates, Nagar Ayukts and Director, Local Bodies, said the order shall not be applicable to the safai workers appointed in the urban local bodies on contract basis.
A government press release said the contractual employees who were appointed on the basis of the government's approval for various schemes sponsored by the government of India and also those contractual employees who were appointed under the courts' orders shall not be covered by this. It was brought to the notice of the government that appointments of contractual employees in a large number were made in the urban local bodies by not complying with the prevalent rules.
