ACP accused of raping daughter-in-law

An official of the Assistant Commissioner rank in Delhi Police has been accused to have raped his 27-year-old daughter-in-law in May 2014. The accused official, who is posted in the Northern Range of Delhi Police, had also reportedly threatened her of dire consequences if the matter was reported, said a source.

The incident came to light when the woman approached Vasant Kunj (North) police station and gave a written complaint on January 23.

In her complaint, she reportedly mentioned that she had got married to the accused official’s son in January 2014 and they all lived together at the official’s residence in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. It was in the month of May that the official allegedly forced himself on her.

She did not report the matter then as she was allegedly threatened by the accused. She also mentioned that she went into depression after the incident and left the country. She started living in Australia, where her brothers are settled. She returned to India recently and reported the matter to the police.
