'If you close your eyes for a moment and reflect on the changes that have happened to you at the personal level — from a young undergraduate to where you are today — you would be surprised to find yourself to be a different person from what you were at earlier stages in life...
...this change could not have happened unless you had the strength to accept criticism, to accept failures, to accept others' perspectives and points of view and to accept the situation that you were in,' Choudhury who is the chairman and managing director of state-run NTPC said in his book.
The book which will be released on Friday, is an account of the author's vast experience in life.
Sprinkled with anecdotes from renowned authors William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Pablo Picasso and Rabindranath Tagore, Choudhury also mentions that Srimad Bhagwad Gita captures the same truth when it says that you should accept heat and cold, joy and sorrow with equanimity and detachment.
'Similarly, in a business situation, your fearless mind plays an important role in every day decision-making by way of overcoming threats, challenges and obstacles,' the book says. Choudhury emphasised that a human being should keep re-ininventing himself.
'The crux of the whole issue is that you must keep yourself open. You must believe in your abilities and look for inputs and feedback to strengthen your abilities. You should keep all the doors and windows open in your system to receive ideas, to weed out weaknesses and to fine tune your internal system for continuous betterment,' he said.
The author concludes by saying that one should set a goal at every stage in life, chart out a roadmap to achieve the goal by laying down 'achievable targets' and clear strategy.
Choudhury's family moved to Patna in the 1920s. He did his schooling from St. Xavier's High School and St. Michael's High School, Patna.
