In light of an RTI reply where <g data-gr-id="41">Anti Corruption</g> Branch (ACB) has admitted that only seven cases were registered by it till May 13, Delhi BJP has demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government release the list of 187 officers against whom action was taken in the same period. The opposition also alleged that the government is busy to cover up cases, hence it is delaying the appointment of Lokayukta in Delhi.
“There is a huge difference between claims and practises of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He talks about transparency but even the names of the officers against whom ACB claims to have taken action, are not being made public. Their names along with designations and all the relevant details should be put up on the website of the ACB and Vigilance Department,” said Satish Upadhyay, Delhi BJP chief. “Even the efforts to seek information through RTI are being curtailed,” he alleged.
According to the reply of ACB to an RTI query number 6727/id 86/15, on May 19, the anti-graft body has admitted that it registered only seven cases till May 13.
“As per record, 282 calls have been received through helpline 1031 in AC Branch up to May 13,” reads the reply on RTI query of Vivek Garg.
On its demand of the list of officers who were sent to jail and suspended for taking <g data-gr-id="28">bribe</g> or found involved in corruption; the ACB denied to provide the information.
“Kejriwal has issued posters and pamphlets in the entire city claiming to arrest 35 officers and suspend 152 <g data-gr-id="29">officers</g> but nobody knows who they are. Why ACB is shying away to reveal their names?” asked Ramesh Bidhuri, Delhi BJP general secretary and South Delhi MP.
“Kejriwal government came to power riding on promises of Lokpal but where is the Lokpal now? They claimed to bring Lokpal in just 15 days but have not appointed even a Lokayukta in Delhi in over 100
days,” added Bidhuri.
The leaders alleged that the city is facing severe power and water <g data-gr-id="31">crisis</g> but the government is engaged in other things. After their internal strifes, the party is now waging scathing attacks on the Lieutenant Governor, Centre, media and officers. “They fight with whosoever opposes their illegal and unconstitutional actions,” alleged Upadhyay.
