ACB lodges three FIRs after Jung’s order

The ACB’s action has come against the backdrop of the Sting Operation shown on Monday by news channel, Aaj Tak, purportedly showing officials demanding or accepting bribe from undercover reporters.

‘The Anti-Corruption Branch is determined to take stringent action against the officials indulging in corrupt practises, said additional commissioner of police (ACB) V Renganathan in a press statement.
Renganathan said the branch is thoroughly examining the CD containing sting operation for taking any further action.

The three FIRs have been registered by ACB on complaints of additional commissioner (Vigilance), Department of Trade and Taxes, assistant commissioner (Delhi Jal Board) and deputy registrar (Vigilance) and Office of Registrar Cooperative Societies.

Renganathan said the public can contact the ACB officials on their landline numbers for lodging of any complaint regarding corruption and demand of bribe.

Meanwhile, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday directed the ACB to investigate all corruption related complaints received through helpline 1031 and take strict action against government officials found involved in graft.

The ACB, which was earlier reporting to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, will now report directly to chief secretary S K Srivastava.

Jung also instructed all secretaries and heads of the departments, especially those related to public service departments, to supervise the work being done in their departments and to stem any instance of corruption that come to notice.

All the officers were directed to prepare a detailed plan for field visits, and prepare an inspection report, to be submitted to the Lt Governor every week, said a press release issued by Delhi government. Jung also directed the officers of all departments to keep aside fixed hours for meeting members of the public which should be advertised/placed on the departmental notice boards and website.
