On Tuesday, managing director of Daikin Air Conditioner Private Limited Kanwal Jeet Java’s house bearing the address C-204, Greater Kailash Part-I was burgled into. Jewellery and cash worth over Rs 11 lakhs were reportedly taken away by unidentified armed robbers.
The robbery took place at around 6 pm, when the aged parents of Jeet Java were home. Raju, their domestic help, was also present in the house when the incident happened. On Tuesday morning, Jeet’s wife had gone to her relatives’ place in Rohtak and Jeet was at his office in Delhi.
During investigation, Raju told the police that at around 6 pm when Jeet’s parents were sleeping in their bedroom, two persons knocked at the door. They introduced themselves as courier boys and said they have come to deliver a parcel. Raju opened the door and one of them kept held him and pushed him inside. Raju told police the accused took him hostage and tied him with a rope they were carrying with them. The armed assailants were also carrying a country-made pistol and a knife.
According to Raju, they went to the room of Jeet’s parents who were sleeping at that time to get the key to the locker inside Jeet’s room. ‘They opened the locker and robbed jewellery worth Rs 10 lakhs as well as Rs 50,000 cash. Before Jeet’s parents could wake up, the robbers managed to flee,’ a police official said.
A few minutes later, when Jeet’s father came out of his room he saw Raju lying unconscious on the floor with his hand and mouth tied with ropes. Raju narrated the incident to him and Jeet was informed about the robbery. One of the neighbours made a call to the police control room. The investigating official said, ‘Prima facie it seems that someone known to the victim is behind the robbery as they were aware of the location of the keys and valuables.’ ‘Neither were CCTV cameras present near the building nor were any security guards available,’ the official said.
‘Raju, the servant, is also under scanner and is being quizzed. It might be possible that he gave a tip-off to the criminals and hatched the conspiracy,’ the official added.
