ABVP launches campaign to raise fine amount

In order to raise funds to pay the fine of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union’s (JNUSU) joint secretary, Saurabh Sharma, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday launched “One Rupee for One India” campaign. According to Alok Kumar, state president of ABVP, the campaign has received an overwhelming response as within a day almost 8,000 people have already donated. The donation is flooding from across the country and we are receiving it at both the online and offline platforms,” Kumar said. He further added: “Sharma fought for the country and opposed to those shouting anti-national slogans and commemorating the death anniversary of a terrorist therefore, the citizens of the country must join his fight and pay his fine.” Sharma was charged with violation of the University Code of Conduct and he was also slapped with Rs 10,000 fine for obstructing traffic in the university.
