The Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Delhi, organised a Student Leaders’ Conclave attended by representatives from more than 40 colleges. The students leaders met to put forward their views regarding the upcoming DUSU elections.
Nupur Sharma, former president of DUSU said, 'This year’s DUSU elections are crucial as they will pave the way for the Delhi assembly elections and the general elections as well. It is crucial that nationalist forces work together to wipe out the corrupt Congress and its agent NSUI.' She appealed to student leaders to work together for the success of Narendra Modi’s dream of a ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’.
Umesh Dutt, ABVP’s national general secretary, said, ‘The Delhi University is the best university in India and it is so primarily because of the talent and hard work of its students, who come from all parts of India in search of good education. Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh wants to turn this university into a customer supply house for American Universities so that they can sell their degrees to Indian elites. This has been happening because the student movement in DU has been made weak by the NSUI-led union. The NSUI-led union has never spoken a word against such policies of the DU administration.’
Also hitting out at the NSUI, Rohit Chahal, ABVP state secretary said, 'NSUI is using the black money earned by the Congress through various scams in the DUSU elections. But DU students know them very well and will give them a sound rebuff in the elections.’
Taking a dig at the Haryana Congress MP, Dipender Singh Hooda, he asked why Hooda is so interested in the DUSU elections? ‘Why does he not start student union elections in his own state instead? It is interesting how he devotes so much time to DUSU elections, but does not let student union elections be held in Haryana,’ he said.
