ABVP forms 7-member committe for DUSU polls

Ahead of Delhi University Students’ Union elections, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday formed a seven-member selection committee to finalise the names of candidates for elections. DUSU elections will be held on 12 September.

‘In first round, committee has finalised nine names of candidates for DUSU elections. In second round, it will finally select four candidates,’ Rohit Chahal, national secretary of ABVP said. Chahal also said that from Tuesday, ABVP will launch pre-elections campaign under which possible candidates have been divided into four groups which will campaign in several colleges of Delhi University. As per elections schedule, September 3 is the last date for filing of nomination papers while candiates can withdraw their names till 5 September.

The ABVP had been campaigning against the controversial FYUP ever since it was introduced last year. After the withdrawal of FYUP by Modi government, the student organisation has shifted its focus on CSAT row.
