ABVP, the students' wing of BJP, today urged the central government to come up with a coaching free entrance test policy for higher education and asked it to revisit the pre-2005 pattern of IIT-JEE.
According to a statement issued by ABVP, it also demanded that the number of chances to appear for IIT admissions should be reviewed to accomodate students from economically weaker sections of the society and students hailing from rural background.
Umesh Dutt, ABVP General Secretary, said "we have asked the government to come up with all statistics concerning growth of coaching industry before and after 2005 and demography of stuck population in the same phase, to set up objective and directive for a national policy on engineering education. "
ABVP alleged that the changes made by HRD Ministry in IIT-JEE pattern had not curbed mushrooming of coaching centres.
