Absence of traffic signals causes accidents in city: Survey

In a survey Delhi Traffic Police was stumbled with the fact that absence of traffic signals at over hundred busy intersections has become major cause of road accidents in the national Capital. The Traffic Police is now planning to install traffic signals at these intersections.

“It was an official survey of Delhi traffic police to access importance of traffic signals on certain intersections. In the survey we have identified 115 busy intersections which need traffic signals immediately,” said a senior traffic police official.

Delhi has 1,278 traffic signal points and around 500 blinkers across the city for traffic management. According to the senior official, the traffic management in the city have become more difficult due to ongoing metro construction at several places coupled with digging of Delhi Jal Board and PWD.

In early 2015, Delhi Traffic Police have also announced that inverters have been installed at 100 important locations in order to provide on un-interrupt power supply to traffic signals.
