Abducted top UP industrialist rescued

A top industrialist was abducted at gunpoint near a canal under Lalkurti police station area last night and a ransom of Rs 2 crore sought for his release. Latest developments however confirm that 55-year-old Sudhir Mahajan, the director of BDM company, was rescued from the jungles in Sanauta area under Phalawada police station, as SSP K Satyanarayan said. ‘Two abductors were arrested and they were being interrogated in the matter,’ he said.

Special Task Force of UP police was engaged for safe rescue of the industrialist.

Sudhir Mahajan, was abducted when he was returning home in Defence Colony from his manufacturing unit at Partapur in his car.

The car driven by his driver Ravinder was stopped by the armed abductors near the Ganganagar police post and Mahajan along with his driver was kidnapped, police said. Shortly afterwards, the kidnappers made a ransom call from Mahajan’s mobile to the family demanding Rs 2 crore. Mahajan’s car was found abandoned in Mawana area.

Surprisingly, the crime spot happened to be very close to a police chowki.

The director of a cricket bat manufacturing firm, allegedly kidnapped from here, was safely rescued and two persons were arrested in this connection on Wednesday, police said.
