Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to launch its ‘traders’ wing’ for Delhi on Saturday in the presence of former chief minister and party convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
The party’s Delhi unit had resolved to form all its frontal organisations before the formal campaigning for the assembly elections begins. The women, youth, students and auto drivers’ organisations are already in place and the latest frontal organisation to come into existence is the traders’ wing. The AAP’s Delhi government had implemented the decision of simplification of the procedure for calculation and payment of Value Added Tax (VAT) by the traders. The AAP is of the view that simplified VAT procedure should be restored at the earliest.
The party is also of the view that traders should not be harassed by unjustified raids and if governments can provide a business friendly atmosphere, they will be all the more happy to pay taxes and carry out their work without fear. ‘Among the main demands of the traders of Delhi are: scrapping of the cumbersome Audit Report 1 (AR1), raising the ceiling limit of composition scheme for bringing more traders under simplified VAT procedure, exempting small traders from registering with VAT authorities and ending random inspections by VAT inspectors, which eventually take the form of harassment raids,’ said AAP spokesperson.
