AAP stages protest against NDA government’s rule

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday staged a protest at Jantar Mantar against one year of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NDA government’s rule.

Protesters raised slogans against the Central government and carried placards reading, “RIP <g data-gr-id="26">Acche</g> Din,”  “<g data-gr-id="27">Acche</g> Dino ki Punya Tithi, “Anti-Middle Class, Anti-Trader, Anti-Farmer; Modi Sarkar”.

Accusing NDA of fooling the people, AAP leader Dilip Pandey said: “BJP president Amit Shah called a press conference and unsuccessfully tried to talk about the achievements of his government. They said we have started the allocation of coal blocks and have raised Rs two lakh crore as a result. Who are they fooling? The coal block allocation wasn’t their choice but their obligation,” he said.

The party also alleged that the Central government had failed in fulfilling the tall promises it had made to the country in the <g data-gr-id="24">run up</g> to the elections.

Pandey asked: “I do not see any so-called <g data-gr-id="28">acche</g> din. What happened to the promises made by the Modi government for public welfare? The people want an answer now.”

During the protest, AAP also opposed the NDA’s flagship Land Acquisition Amendment Bill.

Prime Minister Modi took charge of his office on May 26 last year after a historic election victory that gave the BJP the first Parliamentary majority in 30 years and ended two terms of rule by the Congress party.

The AAP protest comes a day after the Youth Congress protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
