The party claimed in a press conference held at its Connaught Place office that the CD which showed its candidates allegedly accepting a donation without verification was not genuine.
AAP decided to go to the court after the web portal submitted the complete raw footage of the operation to the Election Commission (EC).Â
The chief electoral officer of Delhi, who is responsible for conducting the elections, had asked for the complete raw footage to be submitted to them to examine if there was a violation of model code of conduct.
‘We have received the footage and would submit detailed report to the Election Commission after examining it. A decision on the complicity of the members and the party would be taken by the Commission,’ said Vijay Dev, chief electoral officer of Delhi.
Earlier on Thursday several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders including Shazia Ilmi, Dinesh Mohania, Irfan Ullah Khan and Kumar Vishwas were shown in the video footage released by the webportal as accepting funds without verification or issuing receipts.Â
AAP leader Yogender Yadav said that the party would file a defamation case against both the media organisations - one that made the footage and the channels who broadcast it. The party also said that they would not pull out their candidates from the assembly elections on the basis of sting operation carried by the web portal named mediasarkar.com.
On the other hand, web portal head Anuranjan Jha said that since AAP was accused how could it sit on judgement on itself. In a press statement, he claimed that he was ready to share the entire raw footage either with a constitutional authority or independent media houses.
‘On Thursday we asked mediasarkar.com to provide the raw footage of the stings so that we can examine them, but they have refused. We are convinced that these tapes are doctored,’Â
said Yadav. Â Â
