A day after the much-anticipated rally in Dwarka by Arvind Kejriwal, Singh took a road show in the Vikaspuri assembly constituency of West Delhi. Visiting almost every street in the area, Singh enthralled the audience and supporters alike. Singh was also joined by AAP leader Manish Sisodia during the early part of the road show in Uttam Nagar and Vikaspuri. However, much to the amusement of Jarnail Singh and AAP supporters, it had to be cancelled as Singh’s car broke down just before the road show was to be concluded.
The Vikaspuri assembly constituency consists of one of the largest number of unauthorised colonies in the city. The constituency is now considered an AAP stronghold after its candidate Mahendra Yadav beat four-time legislator Mukesh Sharma in the Delhi assembly election last year.
Hari Shankar, a telecom shop owner in Mohan Garden (largest unauthorised colony in Uttam Nagar) said that the people of the area were fooled for years by Congress and BJP in the hope of getting basic facilities for their colony.
Another resident and an AAP supporter Chirag Gupta claims that their problems have been solved to some extent after Mahendra Yadav of AAP became an MLA. ‘There is a regular supply of water tankers in our area ever since Yadav ji took charge.
