AAP promises e-governance to check graft

The Aam Aadmi Party  (AAP) has promised that governance will reach to the last man through their mobile phones as all the important application forms and services would be available online.

The party also promised to bring political power back into the hands of the people by reiterating Delhi Janlokpal and Swaraj Bill.

All government services and forms will be made available online and on the phone. Data on the government projects, performance, accounts and personnel will be made transparent and online. This will bring transparency and accountability in governance. AAP will scout for and implement projects based on the motto: “Big Change without Big Spending”.

“To realise our dream for Delhi, we need more than just a party, a government, or a Chief Minister. We need the people of Delhi to be a part in running our city at each and every step.   Democracy, as envisioned by the Aam Aadmi Party, is not a system that stops at citizens casting their votes every five years. Democracy for us is Swaraj, where it is the people who decide on the policies that affect their lives. We are here to bring political power back into the hands of the people,” said AAP in a press statement.

AAP said it will pass the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill after coming to power. “All public officials (including the Chief Minister, ministers and MLAs) of the Delhi government shall fall within the purview of the investigation. Public officials of Delhi will be required to furnish an annual declaration of assets. Any undeclared assets will be liable for confiscation. This will ensure time-bound investigation in matters of corruption. The Delhi Lokpal will have the power to initiate investigations and prosecution against those charged with corruption. Citizens’ charter would be introduced in all government offices in Delhi. Whistleblowers will be provided protection and awarded for their contribution towards creating a just system,” the statement added.

AAP said it is committed to Swaraj — the idea of self-governance on top of good governance. “We would transform the governance structure of Delhi to make communities the primary locus of decision-making at the micro-level,” said the AAP release.
