In a bid to generate funds for the upcoming assembly election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is putting its best efforts to make Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘fund raising dinner’ in Mumbai a huge success.
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Ashutosh on Monday confirmed that Arvind Kejriwal would contest from New Delhi seat in the coming assembly election.
While talking to Millennium Post over the phone from Mumbai, AAP leader Satish Jain said: ‘We are getting good response from the people for the ‘Mumbai dinner’ which is scheduled on 27 November.
The dinner is likely to raise around Rs 40 lakh since it will have space for a maximum of 200 donors, mostly our supporters. People are ready to contribute and will come for this dinner as they are against corruption. Kejriwal is still relevant and people trust him and his leadership, and his vision for the country.’ According to party sources, the Maharashtra unit alone has a target of raising Rs 5 crore over the next two months through reach-out drives.
Meanwhile, Jain admitted that compared to last year when party was getting huge support from people across the county, AAP has lost some ground in the state. ‘People still ask us to why did AAP resign from Delhi government,’ said Jain. AAP is planning to host such dinners in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi too.
