Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) voiced its disagreement with co-founder member and prominent lawyer Shanti Bhushan over his comments questioning party convener’s organisational skills on Wednesday.
AAP said it was formed on the basic principle of internal democracy and tries its best to adhere to it at all levels. Earlier in the day, Bhushan said party chief Arvind Kejriwal lacks organisational skills.
‘He is a great leader, a great campaigner but, in my opinion, he lacks organisational ability to run the party affairs,’ Shanti Bhushan told a private news channel.
Meanwhile AAP said the party has internal democracy, ‘The criticism by Shashi Bhushan, who is himself one of the founding members of the party, on this issue is misplaced. The biggest example of internal democracy is the party’s decision to contest Lok Sabha elections on a large number of seats, despite opposition from the AAP national convener, Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP was formed less than two years back and is still in the evolving process. Many of the organisational concerns are being addressed as a part of the ongoing developmental process,’ said AAP’s spokesperson.
‘Bhushan is apparently unhappy with AAP’s decision of not contesting the upcoming Haryana assembly polls. He had his own views on the issue, but the party’s National Executive and the Political Affairs Committee decided against contesting Haryana elections,’ said the spokesperson.
