Delhi government has decided to scrap Form DS-1, because Delhi Traders Organisation Conference of All India Traders threatened to go on strikes. AAP government decided to scrap controversial method of collecting VAT from traders after a long discussion between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and a delegation of CAIT at Delhi Secretariat on Thursday.
Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after the meeting confirmed that the government has decided to scrap Form DS-1 as it was not acceptable for traders. “The government has decided to roll back DS-1 because there were many conflicting rules which were unfavorable to the traders,” Sisodia said.
However, Sisodia also mentioned that implementation of Ds-1 is the need of the hour and indicated that the government may re-think on it in the future. “We discussed the issue with traders and it was decided that the government need to verify its policy as there were lot of conflicting rules,” Sisodia said. On Tuesday the traders had threatened to go on massive citywide protest against DS-1 on May 31.
