AAP files plaint with ACB, Lokayukta against North MCD Mayor

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filed a complaint with the Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to probe allegations against North MCD Mayor Ravinder Gupta on Thursday. The party also filed the same complaint with the state Lokayukta for investigation into allegations of corruption and prosecution of BJP leaders involved in it.

The complaint filed with the ACB and the Lokayukta by AAP Delhi Convenor Dilip Pandey, has sought immediate action after due investigation on the charges of bribery against Gupta. He has been alleged to have demanded bribe from a city contractor in lieu of favours.

“The matter is serious and of grave concern. On one hand the MCDs in the National Capital Region of Delhi are facing fund crisis and employees have not been paid their salaries while on the other hand people running the Municipalities are busy making money for themselves. The more grievous fact is that the Mayor has been alleged to have sought money from the contractor in the name of top leaders of the BJP,” said Dilip Pandey after submitting the request to ACB.

The initial reference about the bribery scam was brought to the public notice by none other than by Leader of the House in North MCD Yogendra Chandolia in a letter to Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay in which he levelled grave charges against Mayor Ravinder Gupta. Chandolia was categorical in his letter that the money was being collected as party fund.

“We are hopeful that the ACB will conduct a free and fair inquiry into the charges and help in giving relief to the people of Delhi from corrupt BJP men in Delhi’s Municipal Corporations. The people of Delhi are waiting eagerly to boot out the BJP from the MCDs,” said Pandey.
