AAP drops Rajouri Garden candidate

An FIR was registered against Pritpal Singh Saluja and three of his family members in October 2012 at Lucknow.
‘It has been brought to our notice that an FIR was registered against him. It appears that the chargesheet for dowry harassment etc. was filed against him and some family members by the Lucknow police in August. A notice was issued by the trial court on 11 November, which did not appear to have reached him by 14 November. Therefore, his declaration in the nomination form that no criminal case was pending against him, maybe technically correct,’ said Yogendra Yadav, AAP leader.
However, he did not bring these facts to the attention of the party while applying for candidature.
‘Keeping the high moral standards which party professes, the Political Affairs Committee of AAP has taken a serious view of Saluja not revealing about FIR and criminal case against him in Lucknow, we have decided to withdraw our support,’ Yadav said.
Meanwhile, a delegation of AAP leaders met members of the Election Commission on Tuesday to provide them with their analysis of the raw footage of the sting operation conducted by Media Sarkar. The party said the raw footage has been maliciously edited to delete critical portions from the CD which was released in which the party’s candidates were heard saying that they would not be willing to do anything illegal or wrong.
