To boost VAT collection, the AAP dispensation has asked all government entities of the state and the Centre having office in Delhi to furnish an online quarterly return of purchase made by them from the registered dealers.
The move is aimed at catching those dealers who evade Value-Added Tax (VAT). The AAP government has issued a notification in this regard.
A senior official said all government entities having offices in Delhi will have to enroll themselves by logging on to website of VAT Department www.dvat.gov.in at first by clicking on the relevant link on the menu. Basic information has to be filed online in Form GE-I.
“The return should be filed on quarterly basis in Form GE-II by 28th day of the month following the quarter to which the return pertains.
“To begin with, return for the first three quarters of the current financial year (i.e. April 1, 2015 to June 30, 2015; July 1, 2015 to September 30, 2015 and October 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015) is required to be filed by February 15, 2016,” the notification stated.
By this move, we will have information about dealers selling items to government entities and if somebody evades VAT, they would be easily be identified, the official said.
