The FIR was filed in the Parliament Street police station on Wednesday following complaints received from women teachers who had alleged that they were attacked, eve-teased and misbehaved with by protesters at the protest venue. However, police said that Kejriwal was not directly named in any of the FIRs, but his name was mentioned in the contents of the complaints.
The police sources have not ruled out the possibility that Kejriwal’s name can be added in the category of accused during the filing of the chargesheet.
With this the total number of FIRs registered in connection with Kejriwal’s dharna, demanding suspension of four Delhi police personnel, stands at four.
The first FIR was registered on 20 January for violating section 144 of CrPC while the second was filed on 21 January under section 186 (obstructing a public servant in discharge of duty) and 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from duty) of IPC, police sources said.
According to police sources, the complainants will be shown video footage of the entire dharna so that they can identify people who had allegedly misbehaved with them and had passed lewd comments on them.
‘The women teachers had gone to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to make him aware about their issues. However, they were stopped and misbehaved by people who were protesting outside Rail Bhavan with Kejriwal and other AAP leaders,’ said a police official. He further said that police is collecting footage of more than 155 CCTV cameras installed around the protests venue.
Police filed the FIR under the section of 323, (hurt) 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 341 and 342 (wrongful restrains and confinement) of IPC against unknown persons.
