In the backdrop of the strained relations between the Delhi government and the Centre, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday sarcastically asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to arrest all ministers, MLAs and leaders of Delhi but not take revenge from people of Delhi for the BJP’s debacle in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections.
“The people of Delhi gave a massive mandate to Arvind Kejriwal in 2015, but Modiji has not been able to accept the defeat so far. The Delhi government has been trying to perform its duties, working round-the-clock for the people of Delhi. However, the Centre’s constant interference in the working of the government and their attempt at creating obstacles along the way,” said AAP in a press statement.
It added that the anti-people policy of the Centre had reached its zenith this week as the Ministry of Home Affairs returned all important Bills passed by the Delhi Vidhan Sabha over the past year and a half.
The AAP also accused the Delhi Police for acting at the behest of the Central government.
“They arbitrarily and illegally arrested AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya, during his press conference,” the party further stated in the statement.
“Less than two weeks ago, four Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillors were caught on camera assaulting an AAP councillor during the day. What action has PM Modi’s police taken against them, despite there being an evidence?” added the statement.
The AAP has also slammed the Delhi Police for taking cognizance of a complaint by a trader against Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for allegedly threatening him.
