The government had told the power companies on Thursday that they would be liable for fines in case they go for unscheduled power cuts. The companies in question will have to announce the schedule for maintenance of their transformers, lines and other electrical installations from Saturday. Delhi Transco Limited on Friday issued a detailed plan of power cuts and power distribution companies have been asked to back feed the areas from alternative sources to avoid long power cuts at a stretch.
The power supply may be affected in the BSES Yamuna Power Limited fed areas of Institute of Commercial Practice Shakarpur, Patparganj Industrial Area, Khichripur Village, Ambedkar Basti, Ghonda, Krishna Nagar Police Station, Block 13 Wazirpur Industrial area, Karol Bagh, Pocket A, Mayur Vihar Phase-3 and Karkardoom Institutional area and Mansingh Nagar on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. Similarly, the power supply will be affected in areas including some parts of CR Park, B Block Okhla Phase-1.
BSES complains on tariff reduction
New Delhi: Reliance Infra-backed power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd has sought Delhi government’s intervention in overcoming its ‘precarious financial’ condition in absence of a ‘cost-reflective’ electricity tariff in Delhi. In a letter to Delhi’s power secretary Punit Goyal, the company said it has been finding increasingly difficult to get bank loans due to delay in announcing a liquidation plan of existing regulatory assets and the new government’s approach towards tariff. BRPL supplies power to around 44 per cent consumers in Delhi.
