The CM, along with Samajwadi Party MLA Ramlal Akela and a few officials, reached the Raain village of Bachrawa block without his official convey.
The CM held a ‘chaupal’ with the villagers and ate mid-day meal prepared for the children at a primary school in the Lohia village. Yadav expressed satisfaction on the quality of the meal.
The CM, who was in the village for around two and a half hours and gave a patient hearing to peoples’ grievances. He announced a bridge, a 10-kilometer long double road, a sports stadium and assured to give Bachrawa the status of Nagar Palika instead of Nagar Panchayat.
Ramlal Akela told reporters that the CM was annoyed with the delay in several projects in the area and has directed officials to ensure speedy work. ‘He came to Rae Baareli as an aam aadmi without informing anyone.
When he felt hungry he ate mid-day meal served to children in local school,’ he said. The Rae Bareli district authorities went into panic mode when the VVIP reached the village unannounced.
He was also slated to go to Manpur village in Satawa block but it was postponed.
This was the first surprise inspection of the CM in the 17-month-long Samajwadi Party rule to get a first-hand report on development works. Earlier last year, he had made a surprise visit to Unnao to check wheat purchasing centre.
The visit also gains political significance as this is similar to that of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visits in UP.
